Australian Woman Arrested for Murder in Connection with Fatal Mushroom Meal

Australian woman Erin Patterson has been charged with three counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder over a mushroom meal that resulted in the deaths of three people and left a local preacher fighting for his life. The charges were laid after police arrested Patterson and searched her home in Leongatha. In addition, she has been charged with three counts of attempted murder in relation to three earlier incidents. Patterson has denied any wrongdoing and claimed that she unknowingly bought the poisonous mushrooms from an Asian grocery store. Death cap mushrooms, which are easily mistaken for edible varieties, contain potent toxins that can cause severe illness and organ failure.
