Russian Volunteers Defect to Ukrainian Forces to Fight Putin's Troops

Russian volunteers, disillusioned with their own country's actions, are joining the ranks of the Ukrainian military to fight against Russian forces in the ongoing conflict. The Siberian Battalion, officially part of the Ukrainian army, is made up of Russians from ethnic minorities who hope to help oust Russian President Vladimir Putin and gain independence for their own regions. These volunteers undergo lengthy security checks before being trained and deployed to the front lines in eastern Ukraine.
