Russian Economy Plunges as Losses Skyrocket in Record Time

Ukraine's latest figures indicate a significant increase in Russian troop losses during Moscow's offensive on the town of Avdiivka. The number of Russian soldiers "liquidated" per day has risen from 300-600 since July to 600-1,000 since October. Ukraine's tally of Russian losses, including troops and equipment, now stands at 304,100 since the war began in February 2022. Other estimates suggest Russia has lost between 150,000 and 190,000 personnel. Investigation outlet Mediazona estimates that 35,780 Russian soldiers have been killed, with the actual number likely higher. Russian troops have made gains in Avdiivka, according to the Institute for the Study of War, but Ukrainian forces have repelled multiple Russian assaults.
