Escalating Russian Attacks Threaten Avdiivka's Security

Russian troops have been attempting to encircle the industrial city of Avdiyivka in eastern Ukraine for several weeks, but have faced strong resistance from Ukrainian forces. The city, which has a prewar population of 30,000, now has only around 1,600 residents due to the devastation caused by the conflict. With no electricity or running water, residents are forced to seek refuge in basements. Despite the presence of a humanitarian support center, it has become dangerous for residents to venture out. Ukrainian forces have engaged in close-quarter battles in multiple directions to defend Avdiyivka.
