Ukraine's Ongoing Battle: Russian Attacks and Strategic Maneuvers

Ukrainian forces are facing a Russian onslaught in eastern areas of the front and difficulties in the northeast, but are making progress near the city of Bakhmut and in the south. Russian accounts claim success in repelling Ukrainian attacks near Bakhmut and in the south, as well as containing Ukrainian troops in the northeast. Ukrainian President Zelenskiy presented awards to troops in Odesa and vowed not to let the enemy dictate terms in the Black Sea. The Ukrainian military is engaged in a counter-offensive to recapture areas seized by Russia, with initial advances focused on securing villages in the south. Fierce fighting is reported in the east, while gradual advances are being made in the south.
