Sudan's former leader Omar al-Bashir was moved from prison to a military hospital in the capital before fighting broke out on April 15, according to sources. Both Bashir and former minister Ali Haroun are wanted by the International Criminal Court over alleged atrocities in Darfur. Despite a ceasefire declaration, fighting has continued in Sudan, with the Sudan Armed Forces and paramilitary Rapid Support Forces agreeing to a 72-hour ceasefire. The UN special envoy on Sudan said that neither party showed readiness to "seriously negotiate," suggesting that both think securing a military victory over the other is possible.
