Renewed Fighting in Yemen Endangers Diplomatic Peace Efforts and Claims Lives.

Renewed fighting erupted in Yemen after Houthi rebels launched an attack on Harib district in Marib province, killing at least 10 soldiers and causing the displacement of dozens of families. The UN-brokered truce deal, which expired in October, has largely held since its expiry six months ago. The war has killed hundreds of thousands of people, forced millions from their homes, and created one of the world's worst humanitarian crises. The Houthis remain in control of the north of the country, while Marib has remained a stronghold under the government that is now based in the southern port city of Aden.
