Deadly Clash in Southeastern Iran Leaves Border Guards Dead.

Five Iranian border guards were killed and two were wounded in a clash with an unknown armed group trying to enter the country near the Pakistani border in the town of Saravan in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchistan. The militants fled the area with casualties, and no group has claimed responsibility for the attack. The relationship between the predominantly Sunni residents of the region and Iran’s Shiite theocracy has long been fraught.
