Iraq's $17 Billion Transport Project to Connect Asia and Europe.

Iraq's prime minister announced a $17 billion regional transportation project aimed at facilitating the flow of goods from Asia to Europe. The Development Road project will involve the construction of about 1,200 km of railways and highways, connecting the Grand Faw Port in Basra to Turkey and then to Europe. The project will also include the development of a "smart industrial city" adjacent to the port. The countries participating in the conference agreed to establish joint technical committees to move the project forward.
