Vatican Returns Parthenon Fragments to Greece Amid Pressure on Museums.

Three fragments of the Parthenon temple, including the head of a horse and a young boy, kept by the Vatican for over two centuries, were returned to Greece in a gesture of friendship and solidarity. The Parthenon temple was built in the 5th century BCE on the Acropolis to honour Athena, the patron goddess of Athens. Its fragments are scattered throughout many renowned museums, and Greece has been trying to recover them since the beginning of the 20th century.
