Fatal Dingo Attack Prompts Euthanasia on Fraser Island

The leader of a pack of dingoes that attacked a jogger on a beach in Australia has been euthanised by wildlife authorities. The jogger, Sarah Peet, was attacked by three or four dingoes on K'gari (Fraser Island), and witnesses reported that the pack forced her into the surf. Tourists Shane and Sarah Moffat intervened and managed to scare off the pack leader, saving Peet's life. This incident follows a series of dingo attacks on humans, prompting increased patrols in the area. Authorities attribute the increasing fearlessness of dingoes to tourists who feed or encourage them for photos.
