"Texas River's Drought Unveils Long-Lost WWI Shipwreck"

A shipwreck from World War I has been discovered at the bottom of the Neches River in Texas due to low rainfall and a summer heat wave. The wreck, consisting of remains from five different ships, was found by a local man while jet skiing. The Texas Historical Commission confirmed that the vessels were from the U.S. Shipping Board Emergency Fleet Corporation and were abandoned after the war. Texas has one of the largest collections of WWI vessel abandonment sites in the U.S. The commission advises against disturbing or visiting the wrecks without proper permissions due to legal protections and safety concerns.
