"39-Year-Old Maui Surfer Fatally Injured in Shark Encounter"

A surfer from Haiku, Hawaii, died after sustaining injuries from a shark encounter near Paia Bay off Maui's northern shore. The Maui Police Department has not labeled the incident as an attack and is conducting an ongoing investigation with an autopsy scheduled.
