Tragic Illinois Semi-Truck Crash Claims Lives in Ammonia Release

An Illinois father and his two young children, along with two others, were killed in a semi-truck crash that resulted in an anhydrous ammonia leak. Preliminary investigations suggest that the crash occurred when another vehicle attempted to pass the truck, causing it to veer off the road and roll over. The tanker truck was carrying approximately 7,500 gallons of ammonia, with an estimated 4,000 gallons being released. Several people were hospitalized due to ammonia exposure, and approximately 500 residents were evacuated. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the incident.
