Tragic Death of Woman Who Fled Maui Wildfire on Foot After Weeks in Burn Unit

A woman who escaped the Lahaina wildfire in Hawaii by running through a flaming field has died after spending over seven weeks in a hospital burn unit. Laurie Allen was among the 98 people killed by the fire, which destroyed 2,200 buildings. Her husband, Perry Allen, lost a lifetime of work when their home burned. Allen endured infections and multiple operations, but her prognosis worsened in recent days. She was taken off life support and passed away peacefully.
