Tragedy Strikes as Fire Claims Lives of Newark Firefighters at Port Newark

Two firefighters were killed and five others injured while battling a fire on a cargo ship at Port Newark. The fire started on the 10th deck and spread to the 11th and 12th floors, engulfing five to seven cars. The firefighters became trapped inside the ship and were later pronounced dead. The ship was carrying approximately 5,000 vehicles, and no electric cars or hazardous cargo were involved. An investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of the fire.
