Three faculty members at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) who were fatally shot by a gunman on campus are remembered as dedicated and inspiring educators. Naoko Takemaru, an associate professor of Japanese studies, was described as a kind and talented artist. Professor Cha-Jan "Jerry" Chang, who taught management information systems, was known for his love of teaching and research. Assistant professor of accounting Patricia Navarro-Velez was praised for her pioneering work and larger-than-life personality.
