Meta and Microsoft Join Forces to Revolutionize AI Technology

Meta is open-sourcing its large language model LLaMA 2, making it free for commercial and research use, in an effort to compete with OpenAI's GPT-4. The move was announced during Microsoft's Inspire event, highlighting the growing partnership between Meta and Microsoft. Qualcomm also revealed its collaboration with Meta to bring LLaMA to various devices starting in 2024. Meta aims to improve safety and transparency by allowing businesses, startups, and researchers access to LLaMA 2, which outperforms other language models in reasoning, coding, proficiency, and knowledge tests. The open-sourced LLaMA 2 will be available through Microsoft's Azure platform, as well as other providers.
