"Massive Outages Hit Facebook and Instagram, Locking Users Out"

Facebook and Instagram users are experiencing widespread outages, with many unable to log in to the platforms. DownDetector has received over 500,000 reports of problems from U.S. Facebook users and more than 70,000 reports from Instagram users. Users globally, including those in Egypt and Oklahoma, have been affected, leading to concerns about potential hacking. Meta, the parent company, acknowledged the issue and stated that they are working on resolving it. The outage also impacted Meta Quest's artificial reality headsets, and the company's official status page displayed "Unknown" across the board.
