MLB Bans Tucupita Marcano for Life Over Betting Violations

San Diego Padres infielder Tucupita Marcano has been banned from baseball for life for betting on the sport, while four other players received one-year suspensions. Marcano placed 387 baseball bets totaling over $150,000, becoming the first active player in a century to receive a lifetime ban for gambling. The other suspended players include Oakland Athletics pitcher Michael Kelly and minor leaguers Jay Groome, Andrew Saalfrank, and José Rodríguez. MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred emphasized the importance of upholding the integrity of the game.
