Typhoon Haikui wreaks havoc in Taiwan, leaving injuries and power outages

Typhoon Haikui has made landfall in Taiwan, leaving two people injured and nearly 10,000 homes without power. The storm hit the southeastern coastal township of Donghe, causing heavy rains and strong winds. More than 9,300 households in Taitung and Hualien counties have lost electricity, and repair works are underway. The capital Taipei is experiencing heavy rains, and the typhoon is expected to bring heavy rainfall to eastern regions, potentially triggering flash flooding and landslides. Over 2,800 residents have been evacuated, and several counties and cities have suspended school and work. In neighboring Hong Kong, another typhoon, Saola, has caused injuries and disruptions to flights.
