"Tragedy Strikes as Mount Marapi Erupts, Claiming Lives of 11 Hikers"

Eleven hikers have been found dead near the crater of Indonesia's Mount Marapi volcano after it erupted, with three people rescued and 12 others still missing. Most of the 75 hikers in the area were safely evacuated. The volcano spewed ash as high as 3km into the air, prompting authorities to impose the second-highest alert level and prohibit residents from going within 3km of the crater. Rescue operations have been suspended due to a small eruption, and those rescued suffered burns and were taken to the hospital. Mount Marapi is one of Indonesia's 127 active volcanoes located in West Sumatra.
