Historic Rainfall Brings Hong Kong to a Standstill

Hong Kong experienced record-breaking rainfall, causing flash flooding that paralyzed the city, submerging metro stations and trapping drivers on roads. The heavy rain, the highest hourly rainfall since records began in 1884, caught residents by surprise just days after the strongest typhoon in five years hit the city. Schools were suspended, businesses were disrupted, and transport services were suspended. The extreme conditions are expected to continue, with widespread flooding and a high risk of landslides. Shenzhen, a neighboring city, also experienced heavy rain and broke multiple rainfall records.
