Ukraine's Surprise Strike: US-Supplied Missiles Prove Effective Against Russia's Air-Defenses

Ukraine has acquired American-made M39 rockets, also known as Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS), which can neutralize or suppress a wide range of targets, including air defense and surface-to-surface radars or missiles. The M39 is a two-ton ballistic missile with a warhead containing 950 submunitions, capable of being fired up to 100 miles away. These missiles provide Ukrainian forces with a significant boost in their ability to hunt and destroy Russian air-defense batteries, potentially disrupting Russia's air-defense network and reducing the risk to Ukrainian aircrews.
