Dam Failure in Nashville, Illinois Triggers Mass Evacuations

Heavy rains and tornadoes in Illinois caused a dam near Nashville to overtop, prompting the evacuation of hundreds of residents. No injuries were reported, but flash flooding and road closures created additional hazards. The storms also caused widespread power outages and damage across the state, including in the Chicago area, where a woman in Indiana died from a fallen tree. The National Weather Service is assessing multiple potential tornado tracks.
