Tragic Loss: Temple University's Acting President JoAnne Epps Passes Away

JoAnne Epps, the beloved acting president of Temple University, passed away at the age of 72. Epps became ill during a memorial service and was taken to Temple University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Temple officials did not disclose the cause of death. Epps had a long and distinguished career at Temple, serving as the dean of the Beasley School of Law and later as the executive vice president and provost. She stepped into the role of acting president in April 2023 after the resignation of the university's first Black president. The university will hold a vigil to honor Epps, and the Board of Trustees will meet to plan for the transition period.
