"Massive Store Looting Spree Hits Philadelphia Amid Protests"

Multiple groups of looters targeted retail stores and a small business in various neighborhoods of Philadelphia on Tuesday night. The looting occurred in Center City, North Philadelphia, and Northeast Philadelphia, with stores being ransacked and stolen merchandise recovered by the police. The incidents included an assault on a security guard at a Foot Locker store in Center City and the use of a pickaxe to break into a pharmacy in North Philadelphia. The looting was unrelated to earlier protests over the dismissal of charges in the death of Eddie Irizarry, according to Philadelphia Police commanders. Interim Police Commissioner John Stanford condemned the looting as criminal opportunism and vowed to make arrests.
