However, Judge Arthur Engoron firmly rejected their bid, stating that the state lawyers had met their legal burden for the trial to continue. The trial, which accuses Trump of inflating his wealth on financial statements, is expected to conclude with closing arguments on January 11. Engoron, who is deciding the case without a jury, hopes to reach a decision by the end of January.
