Tragic Hostage Rescue in Austin Claims Lives of Officer and Hostages

Austin Police Interim Chief Robin Henderson identified Senior Police Officer Jorge Pastore as the officer killed in the line of duty during a SWAT response. Pastore and another officer were struck by gunfire while attempting to rescue two people held by a barricaded suspect. Pastore, who joined the department in 2019, served in various roles and is survived by his wife, two stepsons, parents, and two sisters. The Austin Police Department and the community mourn the loss and offer condolences to the Pastore family.
