Lawsuits against US gun makers may lead to end of mass shootings.

Lawsuits against gun manufacturers, sellers, and distributors are on the rise in the US, with new laws in several states aiming to provide ways around the near 20-year immunity provided to the gun industry. These lawsuits argue that gun companies bear responsibility for gun crimes because of the way they design, market, and distribute their products. While gun lobbyists are challenging these laws, litigation can help to push the issue of gun violence to the front of the public’s minds and also “reframe” the discussion of America’s gun crisis. Even if litigation is unsuccessful, it can be beneficial in exposing any egregious or cynical business decisions made by gun manufacturers.
