Detroit Casino Workers Demand Better Pay and Benefits, Go on Strike

Approximately 3,700 workers at Detroit's three casinos, represented by the Detroit Casino Council, have gone on strike after failed negotiations for new contracts. The workers, including dealers, cleaning staff, food and beverage workers, valets, and engineers, are demanding wages that keep up with inflation, retirement security, technology protections, and other benefits. The strike comes as the workers argue that the casino operators are earning more than ever. The casinos have stated their commitment to reaching a fair contract, and alternative compensation will be provided to the striking workers.
