Migrant Families Disgusted with Brooklyn Shelter, Opt to Leave

The first group of migrants arrived at a makeshift tent city in Brooklyn, but upon seeing the remote location and other concerns, they were reportedly disgusted and ready to leave. The site, set to house nearly 2,000 migrants, has drawn widespread criticism. New York Mayor Eric Adams assured that precautions are in place for safety, but with thousands of migrants still arriving every week, the city is running out of options for shelter. City officials are working on providing transportation for migrant children to attend school. Over 10,100 asylum seekers have come through the city intake center since September 2022, and the city has opened 206 sites, including 15 humanitarian relief centers.
