Clearing the Names: Seeking Justice for Accused Witches in Massachusetts

The Massachusetts Witch-Hunt Justice Project, a group dedicated to clearing the names of those accused, arrested, or indicted for witchcraft in Massachusetts, is seeking a fuller reckoning of the state's witch trial legacy. While much attention has been given to the Salem witch trials, the group aims to bring attention to the hundreds of individuals caught up in witch trials throughout the 1600s, including five women hanged for witchcraft in Boston. The group hopes to collect signatures for a petition and take their case to the Statehouse, following the successful effort in Connecticut to absolve and apologize to those convicted of witchcraft in the American colonies.
