WGA to Vote on Strike Authorization Next Week

The Writers Guild of America (WGA) has called for a strike authorization vote after two weeks of negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) failed to produce meaningful responses on core economic issues. The vote will take place from April 11 to April 17. The WGA is seeking a fair contract for writers and hopes the vote will give its leadership leverage to make the strongest possible deal before the May 1 deadline or to call a strike if necessary. The guild will host a series of member meetings to discuss the vote.
