Margolyes claimed in her memoir that Martin was "horrid" to her during filming, including repeatedly hitting her and slamming doors in her face. Martin refuted the accusations, stating that he took extreme caution during the scenes and there was never any physical contact between them. He also mentioned the presence of the director, stunt coordinator, and others on set who witnessed the well-rehearsed scene. Martin's longtime collaborator, director Frank Oz, supported his account and stated that Martin has always been professional and respectful.
