Selena Gomez is set to portray Grammy-winning singer Linda Ronstadt in an upcoming biopic, with the film currently in pre-production. Both artists share Mexican heritage, and Gomez had shared an Instagram story of reading Ronstadt’s memoir before her casting was announced. Ronstadt, who retired from singing after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, recently sold her recorded-music assets. The biopic will be co-produced by Ronstadt’s manager and the director of the documentary "Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice."
