HYBE and Geffen Records Unveil Global Girl Group Contestants for "Dream Academy"

Geffen Records and Hybe have introduced the 20 contestants for their new girl group project, selected from 120,000 submissions. The audition program, called The Debut: Dream Academy, will be streamed on YouTube starting September 1st, with the final group being decided on November 17th. The partnership between the U.S. record label and the K-Pop company is being touted as the first of its kind, and a Netflix docuseries about the group's creation will air next year. While the group will not be a K-Pop group, the K-Pop development process will influence its formation.
