Hollywood on the Brink: SAG-AFTRA Calls for Joint Strike with Writers

SAG-AFTRA, the performers' union, has asked its 160,000 members to volunteer in the event of a potential strike in the film and television industry. The union sent a survey to gauge members' availability for picketing and interest in becoming member leaders during a work stoppage. The survey also asked about members' preferences for picketing locations and their willingness to participate in strike support activities. SAG-AFTRA's current contract with major entertainment companies is set to expire on July 12, and a strike could be called shortly after. The Writers Guild of America (WGA) is also on strike, and SAG-AFTRA's potential strike would halt any remaining union filming.
