Illegal Chinese-linked biolab in California discovered housing bioengineered mice, infectious agents, and medical waste

An illegal Chinese-linked biomedical lab in California has been discovered filled with unlicensed mice, medical waste, and infectious agents. The lab, leased by Prestige Biotech, was suspected of running an illegal operation and was shut down in early July. Inspectors found nearly 1,000 lab mice, some of which were dead, along with thousands of vials containing human blood and other substances. Local, state, and federal agencies are working to remove and properly dispose of the materials.
