Trump Appointee Sentenced to Nearly 6 Years for Capitol Riot Attacks

Former State Department employee Federico G. Klein has been sentenced to nearly six years in prison for his involvement in the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. Klein, a former U.S. Marine, used a stolen riot shield to assault officers during clashes in a tunnel below the Capitol. He was convicted of eight felony charges, including assaulting officers and obstruction of an official proceeding. Prosecutors had requested a 10-year sentence, highlighting the betrayal of trust as a federal employee. Klein's lawyer had asked for a 40-day sentence.
