"Racially-motivated Jacksonville shooting highlights America's gun problem"

A white gunman, identified as 21-year-old Ryan Christopher Palmeter, attempted to enter the campus of Edward Waters University, a historically Black college in Jacksonville, before being turned away. He then went to a nearby Dollar General store and opened fire, killing three Black people in what law enforcement has deemed a racially motivated attack. The shooter, who had a history of mental health issues but no criminal record, was armed with an AR-15-type rifle and a handgun. He left behind evidence of his hatred towards Black people and wrote several manifestos detailing his ideology of hate. The FBI is investigating the shooting as a hate crime.
