"Proud Boys' Tarrio Faces 33-Year Prison Sentence for Jan. 6 Attack"

U.S. prosecutors have requested a 33-year prison sentence for former Proud Boys chairman Henry "Enrique" Tarrio and leader Joe Biggs, along with two to three decades behind bars for other top members of the far-right extremist group, following their conviction for seditious conspiracy in the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. Prosecutors argued that the defendants organized and directed a force of nearly 200 to attack the heart of American democracy, and urged the judge to hand down stiff sentences as a deterrent to future political violence. The request marks the longest punishment sought by the government in relation to the Capitol siege so far.
