Oglala Sioux Tribe pushes for release as members remain in ICE custody in Minneapolis

Three of the four Oglala Sioux Tribe members arrested in Minneapolis have been transferred to an ICE facility at Fort Snelling, the tribe said, as it calls for their immediate release. The tribe maintains that enrolled tribal citizens are U.S. citizens and outside immigration jurisdiction and says it will not sign an immigration agreement with ICE; DHS did not immediately comment. The detainees were reported to be homeless, and Fort Snelling’s Indigenous history is cited by experts in discussing the case.
