Nebraska Catholic Priest Fatally Attacked in Church Residence, Suspect Arrested

A Catholic priest, Stephen Gutgsell, was killed after being attacked during an invasion at St John the Baptist Catholic church in Fort Calhoun, Nebraska. Gutgsell was taken to a hospital where he later died from his injuries. The suspect was taken into custody, and authorities have stated that the investigation is ongoing. Gutgsell had a previous criminal history of embezzlement, but authorities do not believe his death is related to his past actions.
