Multiple Individuals Charged with Spying for Russia Appear in UK Court

Five Bulgarian nationals accused of being part of a Russian spy ring operating in the UK have appeared in court. The suspects allegedly conspired to gather information useful to an enemy and carried out surveillance on targeted individuals and places between August 2020 and February 2023. They were remanded in custody and did not enter pleas. The charges involve assisting Russia in conducting hostile actions, including potential abductions. The defendants will appear at the Old Bailey on 13 October.
