Crump plans to have Wade's body exhumed for an independent autopsy and a proper burial. Wade's mother, Bettersten Wade, expressed her disappointment in the police department's lack of transparency and questioned their ability to serve the community. Crump and Bettersten Wade also accused the police department of having a vendetta against their family due to a previous case involving the death of Bettersten's brother. The Department of Justice is aware of the incident but has not commented further.
