Inmate Charged with Attempted Murder for Stabbing Derek Chauvin 22 Times

An inmate, John Turscak, has been charged with attempted murder for stabbing Derek Chauvin, the former police officer convicted in George Floyd's killing, approximately 22 times with an improvised knife in an attack he had been planning for a month. Turscak stated that the attack was symbolic with the Black Lives Matter movement and the "Black Hand" symbol associated with the Mexican Mafia. Chauvin suffered serious bodily injury but was quickly subdued by corrections officers. Turscak has also been charged with other counts related to the attack. Chauvin is currently serving concurrent sentences for Floyd's murder and pleaded guilty to federal charges.
