Infamous Mafia Boss 'Diabolik' Dies in Custody After Decades on the Run

Matteo Messina Denaro, a notorious Mafia boss who had been on the run for nearly 30 years, has died while receiving medical treatment in Italy. Known as "Diabolik," he was arrested in January after evading law enforcement since 1993. Messina Denaro was involved in numerous Mafia-related murders and had been given multiple life sentences in absentia. He was considered one of Europe's most wanted men and was the longest-hiding fugitive of the Cosa Nostra. Before his death, cases for high-profile murders and bombings were being brought against him.
