Tyrell Phillips, the suspect in the deadly shooting in Ybor City, is expected to appear in court on Monday. Phillips has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the shooting that killed two people and injured 16 others. Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw stated that conflicting statements from Phillips and evidence provided by witnesses and community members led to his arrest. The shooting occurred during Halloween festivities, and victims ranged from 14 to 27 years old. Tampa Mayor Jane Castor called for an end to gun violence, while the father of one of the victims pleaded for justice and an end to gang-related violence.
