Curiosity Turns Deadly: Korean True Crime Fan's Murderous Act

A South Korean court has sentenced a 23-year-old true crime fan, Jung Yoo-jung, to life in prison for murdering a stranger "out of curiosity". Jung, who had been obsessed with crime shows and novels, used an app to meet an English-language teacher whom she stabbed to death at her home. Prosecutors had sought the death penalty, but the court rejected this request. Jung's online browsing history revealed extensive research on killing and disposing of a body. While she pleaded for a more lenient sentence, citing mental disorders, the court deemed the crime to be carefully planned and carried out.
